Perth Glory FC have completed the signing of former Sydney FC left-back Marc Warren on a 1-year deal.

The ex-Sheffield United defender joins Kenny Lowe’s squad after a successful three-week trial.

Lowe said that Warren’s experience was a major factor in deciding to sign the 23-year-old.

“He’s very experienced for someone of such a young age. He’s played in the UK, played in Scotland and he’s played in the A-League,” Lowe said.

“He’s hungry; he’s shown that he’s got good qualities. Hopefully he kicks on and fulfils his potential.”

A product of the Australian Institute of Sport, Warren has appeared 26 times for Australia’s U17 and U20 squads, including the FIFA U20 World Cup.

After featuring in the U20 premier tournament, Warren was signed by then-League One outfit Sheffield United, who finished third in the 2011-12 season. He later went on to feature for Scottish side Airdrie United, before returning home to Sydney FC and APIA Leichhardt.

Warren expressed his excitement to pull on the purple jersey and represent Perth in the Hyundai A-League.

“I’m grateful to get another chance to play football on the biggest stage in Australia, especially considering the proud history of the Club,” he said.

“I’ll be doing whatever I can to help bring success to Glory because the fans and the people at the Club deserve it.”
